TikTok can feel like the Wild West when you’re stuck in 200 view jail and feel like you can’t quite crack the TikTok code to growth. No worries, I’ve been working in social media for the last 10 years, and have picked up some tricks for getting you to the correct audience and engaging with them in 2024.
- Niche down: I know you’ve heard this before and maybe you thought you were better than niching down, but when your focus is getting that first growth spirt, a niche is your best friend.
- Post Post Post: talking 2-3 times a day if you can. If that feels like too much, start with once a day to get your feet wet, then once you get the hang of it, do a second post a few days a week and go up from there. The more you post, the more opportunities new people have to discover you, engage and follow.
- Give your audience value: People need a reason to care about you, and that reason needs to be about them. Find the value you have to offer, and offer it. As an example, if you’re a business owner, find a way to impart wisdom from your speciality to your audience, in between selling them your product.
- 50/50 Content: If you’re feeling stuck on what to post, use the 50/50 rule. Post one piece of content that gets you excited (this could be your shameless product post) and one piece of content that’s for your audience. This will help avoid burn out while ensuring you continue to grow.
- Pay attention to the stats: Once you have created and posted a few weeks of content, you have some data to work with. Find which videos get more engagement and create more content that is similar. You’ll start to get into a flow and be able to predict which pieces of content will do better or worse.
- Bonus – Engage with the audience you want to attract: Search the hashtags you’re using, find likeminded people on TikTok and make friends. TikTok at its core is about community. Befriending other TokTokers in your niche will innately help you grow within your niche.
